Email: [email protected]
Dr. Curran is a Professor in the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University and the inaugural Quality and Patient Safety Applied Research Chair supported by IWK Health, IWK Foundation, Nova Scotia Health, the Department of Health and Wellness, and Dalhousie University. Her research program, Strengthening Transitions in Pediatric Care, aims to improve health outcomes for children and families. Transitions in care happen every time a child moves from one healthcare provider or healthcare setting to another, or when their health condition changes. Poorly managed transitions between sites of care and caregivers result in higher hospital re-admission rates, adverse events, duplication of services, and higher costs. Dr. Curran's research is in the field of Implementation Science and Knowledge Translation (KT) - specifically designing and evaluating complex interventions for practice and policy change.
Dr. Curran collaborates with a number of local, national and international researchers from a range of disciplines and knowledge users representing a range of stakeholder groups. She is the author of over 200 peer reviewed papers and has given more than 300 presentations at international, national, and local conferences and meetings.
